Evenings & Weekends: Writing the Book You’re Meant to Write (VIRTUAL EVENT)
You have a book inside you—now it’s time to write it. Evenings & Weekends is a workshop for writers who are ready to stop waiting for the “perfect time” and start making real progress on their manuscripts. Led by acclaimed author Elle Nash, this class is designed for anyone balancing their creative ambitions with the realities of work, family, and life.

SKIN DEEP: A WRITING WORKSHOP (IN-PERSON)
Good writing isn’t just about what’s on the page—it’s about what’s underneath. SKIN DEEP is a guided writing workshop designed to help you break past surface-level storytelling by paying closer attention to the signals your body is sending. Before words come, there are sensations, instincts, and tensions that shape what we write and how we write it. By tuning into these subtler cues, we can access writing that feels more honest, unfiltered, and deeply connected to our own voice.

WRITER'S SPRINT (MEMBERS ONLY)
Sometimes, the hardest part of writing is just sitting down and doing it. The Writer’s Sprint is a dedicated, structured space to help you focus, build momentum, and get words on the page—without distractions. We’ll be writing in timed blocks with built-in breaks, so you can stay on track without burning out. There’s no pressure, no expectations—just you, your work, and the collective energy of other writers showing up to do the same.

FOREPLAY: AN EROTIC WRITING WORKSHOP (VIRTUAL)
You’ve felt the spark—the idea that flirts at the edges of your mind, the draft you can’t quite bring to climax, the story that lingers on your lips. Now what? Join us for FOREPLAY, a 70-minute virtual erotic writing workshop where we’ll explore the art of creating anticipation, teasing the senses, and subverting the everyday to craft desire-driven narratives. Whether you’re looking to break new ground in your writing or deepen your relationship with the erotic, this workshop will help you push past inhibitions and into possibility.

Pitch Perfect: How to Nail Your Magazine Submission
Writers, we get it. Finding your voice is no easy feat, and translating it into something suitable for a magazine can feel like a whole other challenge. With countless magazines out there, each with its own style and submission guidelines, it's hard to know if you're truly hitting the mark when you submit your work.
Join us for a Q&A session where we'll chat with Anja Charbonneau and Stephanie Madewell, Editors at Broccoli, a publisher of unusual delights, making artful books and magazines for curious readers.

Members-Only Open Mic: Give & Get Feedback
Drafting your words on paper can be intimidating enough, but taking the leap to share them is a whole other level of significance. However, the essence of a literary salon lies in providing a safe space for sharing your creative work and receiving valuable feedback.
Heretics Club is hosting a 1-hour open-mic night for members to share their work (up to 5 pages of any project) and receive constructive feedback.

Weed & Write
“From a natural stiffness I melted into a grinning tolerance. Walking on the streets became high adventure, eating my mother’s huge dinners an opulent entertainment, and playing with my son was side-cracking hilarity. For the first time, life amused me.” Maya Angelou writes in her autobiography, Gather Together in My Name.
In celebration of melting this natural stiffness, smoke up with the guidance of Sara Jin Li, founder of Heretics Club, through this freewriting session to release common barriers for writers.
In this session, local cannabis brand COUSIN will offer two free pre-rolls as well as snacks and beverages. Surround yourself with other writers and embark on this creative venture together.
COUSIN is a woman-founded cannabis brand curated to foster communal experiences. To learn more about their brand, visit their Instagram @your.firstfriend.

This Is My First Rodeo: A Q&A with First-Time Novelists
The journey of writing your first manuscript requires grit, vulnerability, and more importantly, information. How can you navigate the world of drafting a manuscript that will pique agent interest and also understand what it takes to sell your creative work?
For Morgan Pager, the author behind "The Art of Vanishing," and Lexi Kent-Monning, creator of "The Burden of Joy," this challenge marked their inaugural foray into the literary arena. They’ll offer unique insight into how they broke into the industry recently and what advice they’d grant new writers seeking publication.
Join us at Heretics Club as we provide a platform for these debut authors to share their experiences and offer invaluable insights into breaking into the competitive publishing industry. Current members enjoy complimentary access to this event, while non-members can secure their tickets via our website.

Horror fans and music buffs get your questions ready and join us for our first event of the month: a virtual Q+A with Jasmin Savoy Brown, an inspired actor, producer, and burgeoning songwriter.

We’ll specifically be taking a look at her upcoming music and the steps she’s taken to tap into this particular art form. writer’s therapy with laura zigman
Some problems are just endemic to writers, and it’s hard to talk about them to anyone who isn’t one—much less, to solicit applicable advice or guidance. Heretics Club is one answer to the question of, “Who can I turn to?” And now we’re bringing you another: Laura Zigman. You may know her as the author of Animal Husbandry, but she also offers what she calls “therapy” for writers.
Join us in a virtual interview with Laura Zigman as we chat about what writing therapy is; we all know that the hardest parts of writing aren’t even about putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), but the emotions that both carry and cripple our passions.
